2019 KART RACING FOR HEROES
August 4th, 2019
SBR Motorsport Complex
This is our tenth year of honoring heroes of the military, police and first responders who have served our communities in the past and the present. The race organizer, Craig Mansfield, lost his 23-year-old son, Senior Airman Kristopher Mansfield, to an impaired driver 15 years ago. KART RACING FOR HEROES highlights the prevention of impaired driving and introduces go-kart racing as a way to reduce stress without the use of alcohol or drugs. A KART RACING FOR HEROES booth will have impaired goggles to try and Buddy Cards that set in place a program to arrive home safe and sound. This racing event offers an opportunity for the public to thank our Heroes who protect us on a daily basis.
This year we will be hosting three teams from Buckley Air Force, the National Guard, Wounded Warriors and from the Colorado State Patrol. Each team, composed of five members, will compete in a relay race with mandatory driver changes. The team with the most laps will be declared the winner.
Check-in and a safety meeting will take place from 2:30 – 3:30pm. The Heroes Race starts at 4 pm. This event is sponsored by Carstar, Colorado National Guard, Interstate Batteries and Farmer’s Korner Kwik Stop.
